MANILA, Philippines—Controversial businessman Cedric Lee and Deniece Cornejo, who are both facing criminal charges for the mauling of comedian-TV host Vhong Navarro, denied the rumor that they have been planning to leave the country for Singapore in February.

“The report is not true. I’m here in the Philippines and have no plans of leaving soon. I will face all the issues and clear my name while I’m here,” Lee told the Philippine Daily Inquirer by phone on Wednesday.

Cornejo sent her denial via a text message from her uncle Rod.

Cornejo and Lee were reportedly scheduled to leave for Singapore on February 6.
