Manchester City are ready to repel a £15million bid from Valencia for striker Edin Dzeko.

The Bosnian forward is also wanted by Borussia Dortmund as a replacement for Robert Lewandowski, who is heading to Bayern Munich in the summer.

Inter Milan are also waiting for the signal to submit a bid as they are short of firepower, but Valencia could hold the whip hand if Singapore tycoon Peter Lim takes control of the La Liga outfit.

Spanish newspaper Marca reports that he will hand coach Juan Antonio Pizzi a £40million financial package to bring in numerous recruits to help Valencia qualify for next season’s Champions League.

Dzeko has only made three Premier League starts for City since August and is Valencia’s prime target.

City will be reluctant to sell, however, as they are likely to be without Sergio Aguero until the end of February while Stevan Jovetic is also out injured.

City will go top of the Premier League if they win at home to Crystal Palace today, and face a hectic schedule with a two-legged semi-final against West Ham in the Capital One Cup as well as FA Cup and Champions League battles in the near future and need all hands at the pump.
