The decision to extend the Visa on Arrival (VoA) facility to nationals of South Korea is expected to be announced early next year. The Ministry of Tourism (MoT), Government of India this year sought the extension of the facility—currently offered to nationals of 11 countries—to the nationals of 16 more countries to boost foreign tourist arrivals to India.
“Though we have sought the VoA scheme for many countries, it is the Home Ministry that decides on it after taking into account all concerned issues,” sources in the Tourism Ministry said, as per a PTI report.
As a facilitative measure to attract more foreign tourists to India, the government had started offering visa on arrival to citizens of New Zealand, Japan, the Philippines, Singapore, Indonesia, Finland, Myanmar, Vietnam, Cambodia, Luxembourg and Laos.
