mio TV unveils its packages and prices for the upcoming season of Barclays Premier League (BPL) broadcast. This comes after MDA’s decision that mio TV does not have to cross-carry channels included in its BPL Gold Packs. Only stand-alone BPL content will be cross-carried.
“With the government’s decisions regarding the BPL content, we can focus on bringing the start of the season to all Singapore football fans. We are announcing our packages and prices today to give everyone sufficient time to sign up before the new season kicks off on 17 August,” said Mr Allen Lew, Country Chief Officer-Singapore, SingTel.
mio TV will maintain existing prices for its Gold Packs (BPL, sports, movies and family entertainment bundled packages). For as little as $64.90 a month, football fans and their families will enjoy more than 80 channels. Based on our customer viewing habits, the Gold Packs are the best way for mio TV to continue offering great value. mio TV also remains committed to enhancing the overall BPL experience for football fans who can watch up to four BPL matches at the same time on its multi-view channel. They will also be able to follow games and get all the latest BPL information on their mobile devices. The BPL stand-alone subscription will also be offered on both mio TV and the alternative pay-TV platform at $59.90 per month. The cross-carriage ruling requires the BPL standalone subscription price to be the same, regardless of the platform.
The price for BPL stand-alone subscription reflects the cost of providing the matches as a stand-alone service.
All existing mio TV contracts honoured
The new pricing applies only to new subscriptions or those customers who are renewing their contracts. All existing contracts with mio TV, whether on the Gold Packs, Sports+ or others, will be honoured throughout the contract period.
“The majority of our BPL customers are unaffected. We have built a strong relationship with our customers over the years and value their loyalty. When the time comes to renew their mio TV contracts, we will continue to offer them value bundles with great entertainment choices and superior service,” said Mr Lew.
From next week, mio TV is sending letters to all its BPL customers to further explain pricing details and package options. Football fans regardless of pay-TV platform should call the mio TV hotline on 1609 from Thursday, 1 August 2013 to subscribe. For greater convenience, they can get more information and register their interest at www.miotv.com.sg/bpl.
mio TV underlines commitment to football fans
To make BPL available to Singapore football fans, there are plans to offer weekly BPL screenings at community centres. More details will be shared as the new season plays out.
mio TV will also spend $100 million to enhance the quality and reliability of its service.
“We are the home of BPL in Singapore and are delighted that football fans will be able to watch all 380 matches with us throughout the season,” said Mr Lew.
