I am sponsoring my partner who is from Singapore for the de-facto partner visa. We are wondering if it would be better to apply for the visa offshore as we are only able to get stat decs from non-Australians (his parents and a friend).
We understand that we need two supporting witnesses who are Australians or Permanent Residents for the stat decs. However, Form 888 states that if we are applying offshore and are unable to get Australians or Permanent Residents stat decs, we can provide stat decs from non-Australians. In any case, we are going to explain in our statements why we are unable to provide stat decs from Australians or Permanent Residents.
So do you think we are better off applying offshore vs onshore or don’t it matter either way?
