Singapore Airlines hooks up with Google Now

Singapore Airlines is integrating bookings made on its website with Google Now cards to provide travellers with ‘information at a glance’ before their flight.

SQ customers who include their Gmail address in bookings at www.singaporeair.com will be able to view travel information in Google Now several hours before their flight departs.

Available on Android and Apple iOS devices, Google Now will display live updates on the flight schedule including early notice of delays, along with the airport terminal and departure gate for their flight. The information is automatically updates as any changes occur.

Travellers can also check the traffic and weather conditions for their destination.

“The integration of our website with Google Now will reduce the hassle of having to remember important travel information and provide customers with relevant information about their destinations” said SIA’s Senior Vice President Sales and Marketing, Mr Chin Yau Seng.

Singapore Airlines will unveil a redesigned version of its website next year, and hopes for a smoother ride than the previous glitch-ridden revamp in 2011 which led to an embarrasing apology from airline CEO Goh Choon Phong.

“Be assured what happened then won’t happen again” Goh promises of the coming upgrade. “We learned our lesson very well.”
