NOT TO BE MISSED: Wildlife Reserves Singapore is offering a host

of fun activities

SINGAPORE: THE year-end holidays are here again and Wildlife Reserves Singapore (WRS) is offering  a host of exciting activities for the whole family.

Singapore Zoo’s 40th anniversary will come to a close soon and to mark this grand finale, the zoo has organised a “Zoo Hoo! Wild Wow Birthday” celebrations that kick off from Saturday to Dec 22.

At the Jurong Bird Park, children are invited to join the Penguin Party while guests can experience the magic and enchantment at Mystica, Wildlife Wonderland and the Night Safari.

Visitors to the zoo can enjoy watching our animal friends like the chimpanzees open their presents during their feeding sessions.

They can pose with the endearing animal mascots and be wowed by magic performances. Parents can team up with their kids at fun games and before leaving remember to pick up an exclusive Singapore Zoo’s 40th anniversary activity book, while stocks last.

At Jurong Bird Park, every weekend until Dec 28, kids can enjoy being a junior wildlife reporter for the day, complete with a media pass, and document their observations in a newsletter.

Be prepared to get wet at an exclusive interview with penguin mascots, Pengu and Pengy, and in the Penguin-razzi Meet-and-Greet session, children can get up close and personal with Chocolate, the African penguin.

They will get a chance to learn more about the penguins, enjoy activities like penguin face- and hand-paining and have fun with sand art.

Over at the Night Safari, the Forest Fairy has dropped her magic vial and unleashed its magical energies to transform the park into Mystica — Wildlife Wonderland — a wonderful world of fantastic creatures, magic and enchantment.

A fluorescent array of interactive activities await the adventurous who mingle with the whimsical and mysterious forest denizens.

Come dressed in the most peculiar costumes and when you are noticed strutting your stuff at the entrance plaza on Dec 13, 14, 20, 21, 27, 28, 29, 30 and 31, don’t be surprised if the mystery judges award you with an attractive prize.

Malaysians are invited to take part in a simple online contest for a chance to win a pair of free tickets each to one of WRS’s award-winning attractions — Jurong Bird Park, Night Safari or Singapore Zoo.

Just answer this question: “The theme for Night Safari’s Mystica event this year is Wildlife Wonderland — True or False?”

The contest to win six pairs of tickets closes on Saturday, so email your answer with your full name, mailing address and contact number to corpcomms.szg@wrs.com.sg.

Opened in 1971, Jurong Bird Park (www.birdpark.com.sg) is Asia’s largest bird park with a 20ha hillside haven for over 400 species and more than 5,000 birds.

Singapore Zoo’s (www.zoo.com. sg) world-famous Open Concept zoo offers visitors the opportunity to experience and be inspired by the wonders of nature.

Night Safari (www.nightsafari. com.sg), the world’s first wildlife park for nocturnal animals, is a 10-time winner of the Best Attraction category, awarded by the Singapore Tourism Board. For details on the WRS parks, visit www.wrs.com.sg.
