BOISE — The Gem State can now lay claim to the world’s most beautiful wife and mother. That’s because Kaley Sparling from Boise was crowned Mrs. World over the weekend.
The 26-year-old could barely hold back the tears when she was crowned Mrs. World on Saturday in Gangzhou, China. Sparling was selected from a field of 39 candidates from around the world. She beat runner’s up Mrs. Singapore and Mrs. England for the title.
Sparling returned to a welcoming committee of around 50 well-wishers at the Boise Airport Monday. She couldn’t wait to bring the victory home to Idaho
“I’m extremely honored, and I feel so lucky,” an out-of-breath Sparling said during her welcome-home celebration at the Boise Airport. “I’m freaking out, I feel so excited!”
Kaley’s journey to the Mrs. World pageant was also unexpected. She was the runner-up in the Mrs. America pageant in August. However, because Mrs. America – Texan Austen Williams — couldn’t make it to China, Kaley received the honor of competing and winning Mrs. World.
Which begs the obvious question: If there’s a Mrs. World and she’s from Boise, who’s Mr. World?
Turns out he’s Kaley’s husband, Jimmi Sparling, and he’s one lucky guy. The couple met through friends at church and now have two children.
Interestingly, both are professional wake surfers, with Kaley spending much of her time as a stay-at-home mom.
Now that she’s home once again, Kaley hopes the title will help call attention to her main cause , which is raising awareness for the prevention child abuse.
In the meantime, she’s still getting over the shock of winning.
“The best thing about being in China was meeting 39 women from all over the world,” Sparling said. “They’re some of the most accomplished women, and it’s just an empowering week, and it’s a lot of fun.”
In case you wondering, 50 percent of the Mrs. World contest is based on an interview portion, with evening gown and swimsuit competitions making up the other half.
Sparling won a prize package — including jewelry and dresses — worth $20,000.
