Yotel in talks to build San Francisco hotel

Yotel is in discussions with a developer and the city of San Francisco to build its first hotel in the city.

The U.K.-based company specializes in capsule-like hotel rooms.

Yotel is working with Synapse Capital and is in the process of receiving city approvals, the company said. Synapse has offices in New York and San Francisco.

The company is looking to redevelop the old Renoir Hotel site on San Francisco’s Market Street into a 200-room Yotel, Hotel Chatter reported. Yotel declined to disclose details on the location or the size of the project.

Yotel got its start in 2007 at London’s Heathrow and Gatwick airports and opened its first non-airport property, a 669-room hotel, in New York in 2011.

The company said last year that it would open a 600-room Singapore hotel in 2018.
