STB and WIT to hold India Travel Executive Forum on July 10

The Singapore Tourism Board (STB) and Web In Travel (WIT) are jointly organizing the inaugural India Travel Executive Forum at the Taj West End in Bangalore on July 10.

The half-day by-invitation event from 2-6pm will include high-level speakers representing India’s travel industry which is in the midst of transformation as an increasingly young, mobile and social middle class enters the marketplace.

Themed “Deconstructing the India Story”, top executives from leading travel brands such as MakeMyTrip, Yatra, Cleartrip, AirAsia Expedia, Thomas Cook and Mercury Travels will participate in the programme.

New players which are changing the online travel landscape such as ezeego1 and start-ups including Mygola, Trip38 and SavvyMob will bring refreshing perspectives and ideas to the table.

Start-up teams from Singapore including Voyagin and Travelogy will also travel to Bangalore to share their stories.

“The entrepreneurial and innovative spirit is strong here in India. This rings true in the travel space, where increasing digitization is disrupting the travel decision and planning process. Working with WIT to bring key insights from Singapore’s TravelRave to India would enable the travel ecosystem here to plug into latest trends in travel technology, entrepreneurship and innovation across Asia,” said Chang Chee Pey, Executive Director, South Asia, Middle East, Africa Europe, Singapore Tourism Board.

“We’ve been thinking of doing a WIT India edition for some time and this partnership with STB is a good opportunity for us to bring our style of events to India, one of the biggest and most important markets that’s changing travel in Asia,” said Yeoh Siew Hoon, editor and founder of WIT, who will facilitate the forum.

“Nicknamed the Silicon Valley of India, Bangalore was a natural choice for us given its vibrant and dynamic start-up scene. Many global accelerator programmes and travel tech companies are based in Bangalore. A selected number of invitations will be extended to prominent self-starters to cross-pollinate ideas with some of the more established travel players at the Forum,” continued Chang Chee Pey.

Also present at the event will be PhoCusWright, a WIT sister company under the Northstar Travel Media umbrella, which will present their latest findings on the India travel market.
