Singapore Airlines to start Airbus A380 flights to Beijing

Virgin Australia partner Singapore Airlines is set to begin Airbus A380 flights to Beijing later this year.

From August 1 2014, the A380 will appear daily on SQ802 from Singapore, taking off at 8:30am and reaching Beijing at 2:40pm.

On the return, SQ807 is wheels-up at 4:35pm, touching down in the Lion City at 10:55pm.

Virgin Australia customers will be able to book these flights as VA5544 and VA5553, respectively – maximising the number of points earned on the journey, while doubling as ‘eligible sectors’ in Velocity Frequent Flyer.

Singapore Airlines’ two other daily Singapore-Bejing-Singapore flights will continue to be served by Boeing 777s.

Beijing is the second Chinese city to be served by an SQ A380, following Shanghai which was added to the superjumbo map in October last year.

Singapore Airlines also flies its A380s to Hong Kong, Frankfurt, London, Los Angeles, Melbourne (until October 25), Mumbai, New Delhi, New York, Paris, Sydney, Tokyo Narita and Zurich.
