SECTOR BACKGROUND
‘Smart Cities, Smart Living’ is about finding smart solutions to urban development and management issues, allowing people in cities to have a higher quality of life that is also more sustainable. These smart solutions encompass infrastructure, energy, transport, buildings, materials, health care and information management, among other things. The common denominator is the use of Information Communication Technologies (ICT).
UKTI has published a report on the Smart City business opportunities across 10 cities in Asia that “are large scale developments which aim to achieve economic, environmental and social sustainability through the systematic integration of ICT into their planning, design, operations and management”. The report identified 112 significant business opportunities for UK businesses.
