Visa payWave in SG, now at FairPrice too

NO need now to enter your PIN or sign on a slip; just hold your debit or credit card in front of a reader at the cashier and pay automatically. Such is the convenience of contactless payment, the result of developments in Near-Field Communication (NFC) technology.

However, the take-up rate of NFC payment has reportedly not been outstanding in Singapore. But that may change in the near future, with NTUC FairPrice’s latest collaboration with Visa.

At present, more than 12,000 retail points across the country accept Visa payWave cards, and FairPrice recently added to that, with payWave terminals available at all 116 of its grocery outlets since last month.

This collaboration follows FairPrice’s announcement two years ago that it would accept Visa cards at its checkout counters.
