SINGAPORE: Teenager Farris Rahman has broken into the list of the world’s top 50 skateboarders – putting Singapore on the Extreme Sports world map.

The 18-year-old has been signed by Red Bull and now joins an elite group of 40 other athletes inked by the brand.

Farris began skateboarding when he was just four years old, and joined his first international competition two years later.

The teen is well-known in the local skateboarding scene, but is not yet a household name.

Farris has dominated local competitions, like the Converse City Carnage and Mettle Games.

He was second in the open category at the 2011 Asian X-Games, and finished sixth in the mini-mega romp category at the 2012 Maloof Money Cup in South Africa.
