BAHRAIN’S efforts to use cutting-edge technology to provide faster government services to its citizens were highlighted at a key meeting yesterday.
Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Ghanim Al Buainain said the eGovernment initiative has helped in streamlining procedures and save time for citizens in getting services.
He was addressing a ministerial meeting of the Asian Co-operation Dialogue (ACD) in Dushanbe, Tajikistan.
There is a wealth of expertise in Asia which could benefit Bahrain, he said.
The minister underscored the importance of institutional development of the ACD group to ensure maximum co-operation among member states.
He praised the National Dialogue launched by His Majesty King Hamad and urged ACD member states to back the national initiatives.

It was also decided that Bahrain will host the next ACD ministerial meeting in November.
Mr Al Buainain also hailed a blueprint to boost co-operation in the energy field, which was included in the communique of the first conference, in Kuwait, describing the road map as a solid background to bolster co-operation among ACD member states in the energy field.
Dushanbe’s concluding communique on sustainable development in the 32 member states was approved at the meeting.
Meanwhile, Mr Al Buainain met Singaporean Foreign Minister K Shanmugam, on the sidelines of the meeting.
He stressed Bahrain’s keenness to further boost relations with Singapore. They also discussed latest regional and international developments.
