Singapore to welcome Sapphire Princess cruise ship next month

Princess Cruises’ Sapphire Princess ship will arrive in Singapore next month. To promote the same, The Cruise Professionals, which is the International Sales Agency for Princess Cruises in India, has lined up roadshows in several Indian cities during August and September this year. The itineraries for the cruise will range from 3-17 days, offering a mix of ports, in the first six-month-long deployment in Singapore and the region, as per a release.

Chang Chee Pey, Executive Director, South Asia, Middle East, Africa Europe, Singapore Tourism Board, said “India is one of our top source markets for cruise, and the addition of the Sapphire Princess will give Indians more compelling options to choose from when embarking on a journey to discover Southeast Asia’s diverse landscape. Add to that Singapore’s adrenaline-packed calendar of world-class events the likes of the Formula 1 Singapore Airlines Grand Prix and BNP Paribas WTA Finals as well as the Diwali celebrations and attractive retail and dining options, and visitors can expect nothing short of an exciting, unforgettable holiday.

“Indian passengers who have been craving for a premium cruising experience closer home are going to get an opportunity to sail onboard this beautiful vessel. Sapphire Princess was refurbished in 2012 and it would offer a very cosmopolitan ambience to her cruise passengers with more dining options, new entertainment and numerous kids and family activities, said Nishith Saxena, Director, The Cruise Professionals.

The 116,000-GRT (Gross Register Tonnage) Sapphire Princess can carry 2,670 guests, has 18 decks and over 200 Suites and Mini-suites. The ship features five pools and hot tubs, Movies Under the Stars, Sanctuary—a retreat for adults, five main dining halls, seven casual dining eateries, nightclub, casino, duty-free shops, gymnasium and spa, sports deck, children and teen activity centres, library, Internet café, art gallery and a golf putting course.
