SINGAPORE – Last to come into Tigerair’s network is Kalibo in the Philippines. Located next to the resort island of Boracay, Tiger Airways launched the new destination on July 18, offering three weekly frequencies to and from Singapore. Tigerair is the only budget carrier to offer a direct Singapore-Kalibo call. The destination will be easily accessible to most passengers of Tigerair thanks to the recent launch of the new Tiger Transfer service.

Visitors to Boracay can purchase Tiger Transfer passes for an affordable PHP500 (SGD$15), at Tigerair’s check-in counters at Kalibo International Airport or aboard the Singapore-Kalibo flight, to enjoy a seamless transfer service straight to their hotels on Boracay island from Kalibo airport. The transfer includes a scenic bus ride (1hr – 1.5 hrs) to Caticlan and a boat ride (10-15 minutes) to Boracay island.

Best known for its beautiful beaches, sea activities, golfing and cliff diving activities, Boracay is attracting over 1.2 million visitors in 2012 alone. Kalibo is Tiger Air third destination in the Philippines out of Singapore. The Group operates an extensive network covering now over 50 destinations across 13 countries in the Asia Pacific with a fleet of 45 Airbus A320-family aircraft, averaging under three years of age.

The expansion of Tigerair is helping the carrier to consolidate its position as Asia’s second largest low cost carrier, behind the AirAsia Group. Turning the Tiger Group into a giant player in the region was a major reason behind the recent Tiger Airways rebranding. Earlier this month, the carrier unveiled its new image and new name “Tigerair”. The rebranding exercise was a welcome step to provide consumers with a more united image for the four airlines forming the Tiger Airways Holdings: while the Singapore-based Tiger Airways is now Tiger Air, Tiger Airways Australia was turned into Tigerair Australia, Mandala is now Tigerair Indonesia and SEAir became Tigerair Philippines.

The Singapore-born and bred budget carrier has also been creating synergies between all Tigerair airlines in Singapore, Indonesia, and the Philippines. From now, customers will have the opportunity to book connecting flights from any of these carriers. Passengers can connect flights seamlessly in Singapore without clearing immigration or transferring their own luggage.

At a press conference in Singapore, Koay Peng Yen, Group CEO of Tiger Airways Holdings told during a press conference: “We have initiated a series of changes since late last year, and this brand identity should be seen as a reinforcement of our commitment towards a better and bolder Tigerair.”

New improved services will be introduced over the months to come including mobile and web check-in for all customers, offering more capacities to customers via its Tigerair’s mobile application, which currently contains many functions, including searching and booking flights, and selecting seats. In addition, customers will also be able to make changes to their bookings online, as well as pre-order their preferred meal choice.
