SINGAPORE – The largest private art museum in Paris is set to open here in 2015; but before that, museum buffs can a first taste of it in September.
Pinacothèque de Paris will open in its first location outside of Europe at the Fort Canning Park in Singapore.
The museum is a known for its critically acclaimed exhibitions that celebrates transversality and the dialogue between different works of art, and will feature world-class exhibitions of master artists such as Vincent van Gogh, Claude Monet and Pablo Picasso, among others.
To provide visitors with a taste of what is to come when Singapore Pinacothèque de Paris officially opens, a pop-up exhibition will open this September.
Singapore Pinacothèque de Paris will be led by Art Heritage Singapore (AHS), which aims to bring rarely accessible quality fine art to the region for locals and tourists alike.
AHS will be redeveloping the Fort Canning Centre with plans to complement the museum with retail and FB spaces, including a museum shop.
“The museum will be a compelling addition to our tourism landscape, and complements our existing visual arts offerings such as the Singapore Art Museum, Singapore Art Week and the upcoming National Art Gallery,” said Mr Lionel Yeo, Chief Executive of the Singapore Tourism Board.
