Khurshid to visit Brunei, Singapore

External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid is to visit Brunei and Singapore from July 1. Briefing newspersons a Ministry spokesman said the Minister would attend the 11th India-ASEAN Ministerial meeting in Brunei on July 1 apart from the third East Asia Summit during the visit. The Singapore visit would be the first by Khurshid.

Trade between India and the ASEAN grew 37 per cent last year to touch $79 billion and is on track to touch $100 billion in 2015, the spokesman said. India’s trade with Singapore is higher than that with any country in the ASEAN region.

Visa for Pakistan journalist

The Ministry of External Affairs says that it has neither received nor is a request for a visa for posting of a Pakistan journalist in India pending with it. Pakistan has refused to extend the visa of the only two Indian journalists posted in that country.
