Flight Review: $130 from Singapore to Bangkok on Scoot

Having a ScootBiz ticket allowed us to skip the queues at check-in, which was excellent; we got rid of our bag, picked up our boarding pass, and sped through security so quickly we had way too much time to kill at the gate. Luckily Singapores Changi airport offers free and functioning WiFi.

ScootBiz has black leather recliner seats in a 2-4-2 configuration. There were only a handful of people in the cabin, so we moved to an empty pair of seats to have more space. Cleanliness hasnt moved up on the priority list since last year it seems; we definitely wouldnt call it dirty, but it certainly wasnt as clean and shiny as it could be. Luckily legroom is plenty, and the seats themselves are comfortable for a regional ride in Asia.

The crew reflects the youth of the airline, with most seeming to be in their twenties. The few members we interacted with were unfailingly friendly, and explained that the deserted cabin was not usual for the flight. No apology needed when it worked out in our favor by adding privacy, quiet and less fuss in general.

Being in ScootBiz, we were served a complimentary meal, which passengers may preselect during booking. The chicken in soy sauce with rice, box of Pringles, and Coke doesn’t sufficiently represent the elements of the food triangle to qualify as a healthy meal, but we are talking airline food here. Also, whither the color in the dish? Definitely not a selling point of the whole experience.

As opposed to the black leather seats in ScootBiz, the main cabin is characterized by its yellow seats. It looks a little vintage if were generous, aged if were not. The main qualm with the economy seats, from what we understand from friends of ours, is the headrests. The lack of proper adjustable flaps makes for strained necks and uncomfortable sleeping, which we can totally imagine.

All in all, Scoot worked for us based on the combination of flight time and fares for its ScootBiz product. If the mix is right, well happily come back. We paid a total of S$166 ($130) for our one-way ticket from Singapore Changi (SIN) to Bangkok Suvarnabhumi (BKK), with flight TZ302 leaving at 5.35pm, arriving just before 7pm local time.
