Visa-on-Arrival continues to grow - Travel Daily Media

India’s Visa-on-Arrival scheme continued to grow in April 2013.

India’s VoA continues to grow


The scheme registered a growth of 23.5% in April 2013 as compared to April 2012. During the month, a total number of 1,408 VoAs were issued as compared to 1,140 during April 2012.


During the first four months of 2013, India issued a total of 7,152 VoAs as compared to 5,045 VoAs during the corresponding period of 2012, thus registering a growth of 41.8%. Among the 11 countries that currently fall under the VoA scheme, Japan was issued the maximum number of VoAs with 387 nationals availing this service last month.


Following Japan was New Zealand (306), Philippines (248), Indonesia (198), Singapore (152), Finland (74), Vietnam (15), Myanmar (12), Cambodia (12), Luxembourg (3) and Laos (1).


Delhi airport issued the highest number of VoAs with 4,193 visas, followed by Mumbai (1,558), Chennai (956) and Kolkata (445).


India has also announced to extend the VoA service at five more airports in India. These airports include Goa, Kochi, Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Trivandrum airports.
