Lukashenko wants proposals on easing or abolishing visas with some countries

MINSK, 19 April (BelTA) – President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has given an instruction to submit proposals on easing visa regulations or abolishing visas with a number of countries. The instruction was voiced during the State of the Nation Address on 19 April, BelTA has learnt.

“It is in our interests to simplify operation terms in Belarus as much as possible. This involves visa regulations,” the President noted.

Alexander Lukashenko addressed the Israeli Ambassador to Belarus: “About 15% of Israelis or some 1.2 million -1.3 million people are immigrants from the former USSR republics. These people have a political weight there. We have visas with Israel. Is it ok? It is not ok, Mister Ambassador”. “I know that you are in favor of abolishing visas, but we need to team up with the Israeli government to settle the issue as soon as possible. Are you afraid of us? No. There is nothing to be afraid of,” the Belarusian head of state said.

“Let us take Singapore, a key regional and financial center, a potential source of investments into the Belarusian economy. It might soon become one of the major springboards for promoting Belarusian products on the markets of Southeast Asia,” Alexander Lukashenko said.

In his words, the same pertains to the United Arab Emirates. The country is becoming an increasingly popular travel destination for Belarusians.

“Therefore, I instruct the Foreign Ministry, the Interior Ministry and other agencies to submit well-developed proposals to ease or abolish visas with these and other countries,” the head of state said.
