YVR once again ranked top North American airport

Vancouver International Airport was rated the best airport in North America by Skytrax, an air travel rating and review consultancy organization.

The Skytrax World Airport Awards are informally considered the litmus test for where airports stand in terms of the quality of services they provide. The awards are based on passenger reviews and look at things such as hotel quality, amenities, cleanliness, staff friendliness and security.

YVR was the only airport in North America to crack the Top 10 list worldwide. It ranked ninth globally.

 

YVR was also ranked the best airport in the world in the 10-20 million passenger category.

 

“To earn a fifth consecutive ranking as the top airport in North America as voted by passengers all over the world is truly a remarkable feat,” said Craig Richmond, President CEO, Vancouver Airport Authority in a YVR news release.

“This award is about more than just YVR’s iconic art and architecture; it encompasses our superior customer care and efficient processes, our shopping and dining options and more. Ultimately, this award is a powerful testament to the commitment of the YVR community – 24,000 strong – to go beyond, every day,” added Richmond.

The second best airport in North America was Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky Airport. Toronto Pearson Airport ranked fifth on the continent.

Many of the best airports in the world are located in Asia, as they’re known for their opulent features, modern designs, cleanliness and service.

Singapore had the best airport in the world followed by Incheon, Korea and Munich, Germany. Hong Kong, China placed fourth wile Tokyo, Japan ranked sixth.

The Fairmont Vancouver Airport won the best airport hotel award in the North America category.
