Singapore Tourism, ACA jointly conducting training sessions for Indian travel ...

In order to enhance awareness about Singapore’s Cruise Tourism offerings in the Indian market, Singapore Tourism Board (STB) in association with the Asia Cruise Association (ACA) is conducting training sessions for the travel trade in Mumbai and Delhi. The session in Mumbai was held yesterday and witnessed a turnout of 40 travel agents. The session in Delhi will be tomorrow. Further, STB will unveil its special Incentive Programme aimed at benefiting the Incentives segment next week.

Speaking at the event in Mumbai, Chang Chee Pey, Executive Director, South Asia, Middle East and Africa, Singapore Tourism Board, said, “India is one of our top five source markets for Cruise Tourism. Given the great potential that the cruise industry has for Asia and Singapore, we are partnering with the Asia Cruise Association to start educating and enhancing awareness about Cruise Tourism amongst the Indian travel trade via these training sessions. These training sessions aim to educate the travel trade partners about Cruise Tourism, to familiarise them with the available products and to promote and boost the cruising as a top travel option for Indians. Indian travellers sometimes have this misconception that Cruise Tourism is a premium and expensive product when in reality it is a value-for-money vacation choice complete with entertainment, activities, accommodation, dining and shore excursions all at one price. Given the recent rupee devaluation Indians will find cruise vacations a great cost-effective all-inclusive vacation.

The session threw light on topics such as Cruise Tourism and how travel agents can become Cruise Lines International Association certified cruise Counsellors, Singapore as a cruising destination, the advantages of Cruise Tourism and effective cruise marketing.

“Given Singapore’s close proximity to all major cities in India it is the ideal destination to embark on a cruise holiday. The cruise holiday is hassle-free, owing to the excellent connectivity between Changi Airport and Singapore’s well-equipped cruise terminals. Both its world-class marinas, Marina Bay Sands Cruise Centre and Singapore Cruise Centre offer numerous conveniences such as limousine charters, powder rooms and baggage storage facilities ensuring an enjoyable vacation for the whole family,â€ added Pey.

G B Srithar, Area Director, South Asia, Singapore Tourism Board, said, “We are introducing cruising as a holiday option as well as promoting cruising out of Singapore. We have been doing a lot of cruise promotion in the last one year.
