The Singapore Tourism Board has appointed Sharon Lam as its new area director Oceania, filling the position vacated by Sandra Leong in April.
Lam will be based in the Sydney regional office and will be charged with driving the strategic direction and promotion of Singapore to both the leisure and business markets in Australia and New Zealand.
Part of that mission will be to challenge “out of date or inaccurate” preconceptions of the destination, she revealed.
“I look forward to working with our trade partners and agencies to help make Australians more aware about the ever-changing Singapore scene,” she said.
The ongoing marketing campaign, Get lost and find the real Singapore, will continue to play an important role in achieving these goals, she added.
Lam joined the STB in 2007 and has held a number of roles within the organisation in the fields of exhibitions and conferences, and events and entertainment.
Her appointment coincides with the naming of a new PR agency, Adhesive PR, to handle its public relations across Australia and New Zealand.
