KUCHING: Members of the public whose houses were recently broken into by thieves are advised to come to One Stop Centre at Jalan Simpang Tiga to identify stolen items seized by
police.

They are advised to call Inspector Dorairajah at 013-5603340 or meet the investigation officer at the police station.

Among the items are an expensive Rolex watch, foreign currencies including from Brunei, Singapore, Indonesia as well as old Malaysian notes, mobile phones, laptops, several sets of car keys and three cars – a Mitsubishi Airtrek, a Perodua Kancil and a Proton Iswara.

All the items were seized by police following the arrest of a gang robbery and car theft suspects last weekend.

Two men aged 22 and 25, who were later found to be cousins, were arrested by a team of police on Saturday around 11am at a house at Three Hills Park here following a tip-off from the public.

The 25-year-old suspect also possessed a previous criminal record and was also believed to be involved in vehicle theft.

Another man was also arrested in connection with the case following an interrogation of the cousins. The 36-year-old man from Bintangor was arrested at a budget hotel in Padungan around 4pm.

Also found inside his room were numerous suspected stolen items as well as car keys.

Later, the suspect led police to a factory in Bintawa where he had disposed of a Mitsubishi Airtrek car, which he and the cousins were believed to have used to commit a spate of house breakings over the past few weeks.

The vehicle itself was discovered to have been reported stolen by its owner earlier this month.
