ASIA – ITB Asia’s Executive Director Nino Gruettke has said that fresh funding for the event will mean a big development of the conference programme.
Following the recently concluded sixth edition of ITB Asia, the organiser Messe Berlin (Singapore) announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) to produce the enhanced conference programme over the next three years.
The event, billed as the trade show for the Asian travel market, is also moving from Suntec Singapore Exhibition and Convention Centre, where it attracted over 9,100 visitors from over 110 countries across three days last month, a seven per cent increase over 2012.
A strategic three-year partnership with Marina Bay Sands, starting in 2014 involves accommodation as well as the event hosting. Marina Bay Sands hosted the event in 2012 while Suntec was being refurbished.
“Marina Bay Sands offers ITB a unique value proposition, including accommodation for attendees as official hotel partner and world-class conferencing facilities as official venue,” said Gruettke. The venue promised free Wi-Fi to all delegates.
George Tanasijevich, President and CEO of Marina Bay Sands, said: “This three-year partnership with ITB Asia is a very powerful testament of our commitment to remain the number one business and leisure destination in Asia. With ITB Asia’s long-standing reputation and extensive reach throughout the region, we are confident that this partnership will solidify our leadership within the MICE industry. We are very privileged to be chosen as a partner and we look forward to delivering an exceptional Marina Bay Sands experience through ITB Asia.”
The 2014 edition of ITB Asia will take place 29-31 October.
