Bogor police arrested three men for allegedly raping and holding a 14-year-old girl hostage for 10 days.
“The victim had been missing since May 2, but her family did not file a report. She was discovered on Monday, and the family decided to file a report after they found her,” Bogor Police Chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Asep Safrudin said Tuesday.
Asep said the victim met her alleged captor, a man named Kolip, when she was applying for a job as a factory worker in Bogor.
“After submitting her application, she met Kolip, who works at the factory, and agreed to follow him to his home, maybe because she was promised she would get the job. She was then raped,” Asep said.
Asep said that Kolip brought to his home three other men who also raped the victim.
After 10 days of being held in captivity, a family friend brought the girl home to Ciburayut village, Bogor.
“When she was delivered home, she was very depressed and revealed that she was raped,” Asep said.
Three suspects, including Kolip, were arrested at their work place while another suspect, identified as Fatah, is still at large.
“We believe that he left Bogor, and we are currently tracing his whereabouts,” he said.
According to Asep, the suspects may be charged under Articles 285 and 333 of the Criminal Code on rape and the violation of personal freedom, which carry maximum punishments of 12 and eight years in prison, respectively.
