The Air Force awarded the Raytheon Co. a $534.80 million contract for the latest lot of its advanced medium-range air-to-air missiles, more than half of which will be delivered to foreign allies.
Raytheon, which is headquartered in Waltham, Mass., and has about 3,500 employees in Virginia, will supply AIM-120 C7 missiles to Oman and Saudi Arabia as part of the award. The work expected to be completed in January 2016.
According to Raytheon, 36 countries have procured its missiles to date, including Iraq, Bosnia and Kosovo. In April, the Pentagon notified Congress of a planned $210 million package deal to Singapore for 100 AIM-120C7 missiles.
