50 women from pioneer generation honoured

SINGAPORE: In celebration of International Women’s Day, some 50 women from the pioneer generation went on an excursion on Thursday.

Sixteen student volunteers from ITE College Central led the seniors from Ang Mo Kio Community Centre to Resorts World Sentosa.

Organised by the Ang Mo Kio Women’s Executive Committee, the event is aimed at promoting a healthier lifestyle and sharing with them the newly announced Pioneer Generation Package.

They were also each presented with a $20 NTUC voucher.

Senior Minister of State for Finance and Transport Josephine Teo said: “The more ways in which we can find for seniors to remain active in their golden years, the better it is for them, the better it is for society and I think it is the kind of Singapore that every family can look forward to.”
