We’ve all watched awe-struck as Hollywood superstar Tom Cruise abseiled down the Burj Khalifa inMission Impossible – Ghost Protocol.
Now it is Bollywood’s own superhero Krrish’s turn to take over the city’s skyline — if Rakesh Roshan has his way.
The director-producer who was in town on Thursday along with hisKrrish 3cast — Hrithik Roshan, Priyanka Chopra, Kangna Ranaut and Vivek Oberoi — mentioned during the press conference that the next sequel could well be set in Dubai.
He was responding to a query on which of Dubai’s iconic locations will best suit a scene fromKrrish.
WhenKhaleej Timescaught up with the team for an exclusive chat post the event, Roshan was more than happy to talk about it.
“If the government is helpful and provides us with all facilities, why not? When we shotKrrishin Singapore, we had to shut down certain streets for days to film several portions. And if Dubai gives it all on a platter, we will be here.
“Because shootingKrrishis not easy,” he continued. “We have to block many roads and we need cranes that are 250 feet long. As to when — let’s see, I’m going to talk to the government — if they agree then I’d definitely like to make a film over here.”
Priyanka Chopra seemed the most excited of the lot when she chirped in: “We’ll take over your city!”
Considering that Dubai has for long played host to many Bollywood shoots — the Shah Rukh Khan-Deepika Padukone starrerHappy New Yearbeing the latest one to be filmed here — don’t be surprised to see Krrish flying over Shaikh Zayed Road in the next installment of what is being touted by Hrithik Roshan as India’s “first full-fledged, home-grown hi-budget superhero musical extravaganza.”
The Press conference was held at the Oberoi Hotel as part of theKrrish 3promotional tour organised by Dream Advertising and Ministry of Events in the city on Thursday.
Though the press conference started nearly two hours late, the waiting media and fans were entertained by a group of talented youngsters from D4 Dance Academy.
And when the stars finally turned up, they were in their elements. “Dubai is one of my favourite places to visit with my family,” Hrithik said. “Somehow all my movies do well here!”
As to whetherKrrish 3will meet the same reception remains to be seen, when the movie opens in the UAE later this week.
