  • Welcome to the results of the Business Traveller Awards 2013. Once again you, our readers in the UK, voted to reward those companies whose products and services you truly value.

This year’s awards were announced at a luncheon on October 15 in the ballroom of Kensington’s Royal Garden Hotel. The ceremony was hosted by newsreader, presenter and journalist Fiona Bruce.

Sponsored by Panasonic and Get Abstract, the Business Traveller Awards are voted for by readers of the magazine — with the results authenticated by an independent auditing company — and are widely recognised as the market’s benchmark for excellence.

British Airways once again proved popular, winning Best Airline, Best Short-Haul Carrier, Best First Class, Best Frequent Flyer Programme for its Executive Club, and Best Airport Lounge for its facility at Heathrow’s T5.

Singapore Airline won four awards, collecting trophies for Best Long-Haul Airline, Best Economy Class, Best Cabin Staff and Best Asian Airline.

Quite incredibly, Singapore Changi Airport was voted Best Airport in the World for a 26th successive year.

In the hotel categories, Best Airport Hotel went to Regal Airport Hotel Hong Kong, while Intercontinental London Westminster collected the Best New Business Hotel award.

Elsewhere, Hertz was voted the Best Car Rental Company in North America, while Avis was named Best Car Rental Company in Europe and also Worldwide.

Business Traveller also used the awards to unveil its chosen cause for the year – Refuge. The charity runs powerful campaigns to raise awareness of domestic violence and reach out to abused women and children, through a range of services.

Refuge will receive all funds raised by our annual charity auction, so please visit businesstraveller.com/auctions from November 1 for information on how it works and the great prizes up for grabs, which have been kindly donated by hotels, airlines, car rental companies and others.
