We remember Mother Teresa, who died on September 5, 1997, though her legacy continues to move the world even years after her passing.
Known for her work with the poorest of the poor, she took her vows at the age of 20 in India, where she started a slum school and founded her own order, “The Missionaries of Charity.” She received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979 for her tireless work on behalf of the downtrodden.
