Tech shorts: Epson trade-in, Nokia promo

MANILA – Here’s a look at some technology-related promos and offerings this month.

Trade in your old printer

Epson is offering a 20% discount when customers trade in their old printers and buy an Epson LX-310, an LQ-310 or FX-2175 dot matrix printer.

Customers who surrender their old printers (working or non-working) until January 31, 2014 can get a 20% discount when they buy the above-mentioned Epson models. The old printers can be any brand of a dot matrix, inkjet or laser printer.

The Epson LX-310 and LQ-310 are upgraded versions of Epson’s LX-300 and LQ-300 models, and feature improved speed and reliability. The Epson FX-2175, for its part, is dubbed as a “low maintenance and high performance workhorse” that delivers fast prints for a variety of applications.

“The amount of trust and support that the public has shown us is overwhelming and we want to express our gratitude by offering them our new dot matrix models at an attractive price,” Epson product manager for business systems products Thea Austria said in a statement.

All three products are available nationwide.

Nokia launches Christmas promotion

Nokia has launched its “Nokia Buena” Christmas promo, which gives customers the chance to win special holiday ackages. Buy a Nokia Asha, Nokia Lumia or any Nokia device from participating Nokia stores and retailers to get raffle entries for a chance to win Nokia gadgets in the weekly draws and an all-expense paid trip for two to Singapore in the grand draw.

To join the promo, customers who purchased Nokia devices need to sign up on the Nokia Buena microsite  and complete the form to automatically register in the weekly raffle draws. Each of the five weekly draws will present a different Nokia Buena package.

There are three more weekly draws, with eight Nokia Buena Xbox Packages up for grabs in the third weekly draw on December 6. This will include one Nokia Lumia 925, one Xbox 360 Console unit, one Xbox Game CD, one Coloud BOOM headset and one JBL Power Up Speakers unit.

The Nokia Buena Phablet Package to be given away on the fourth weekly draw on December 13, includes Nokia’s first phablet, the Nokia Lumia 1520, one Nokia Lumia 1020 unit, two Coloud BOOM headsets, and two JBL Power Play Speakers units.

For the fifth and final Nokia Buena weekly draw on December 23, four winners will win the grand prize — a Nokia Buena Trip Package that includes a trip to Singapore for two, inclusive of airfare, accommodations, and pocket money. Each winner will also get a Nokia Lumia 1020 unit.

Power Mac Center extends e-prepaid card promo

Shoppers only have less than a month to avail of the free online prepaid credit card from Power Mac Center.

The Apple partner is giving away until December 31 a My ePrepaid MasterCard from the Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) free for every purchase of a Mac or an iOS device from any of its stores nationwide. The reloadable prepaid card is preloaded with P200 so recipients can immediately enjoy shopping for games and apps on the App Store or their favorite songs from iTunes.

With the new prepaid credit card service, it is not only easier to set-up your iTunes and App Store account, but also to manage your online purchases.

Upon purchasing a qualifying product, customers will be asked to complete the My ePrepaid MasterCard application form. Claiming will be 10 days after at the same Power Mac Center store where the customer made a purchase.

Valid for two years, the My ePrepaid card is reloadable over the counter at BPI’s nationwide network of branches or at BPI ATMs and BPI Express Online for BPI cardholders, among other BPI channels. No maintaining balance is required.
