I am Singaporean and posting this with the hope someone could help with this query about application for Fiance or proposed civil partner in UK.
My proposed partner is a retired UK citizen and we met while I was doing my further degree in UK 3 years ago. We lived at his home which he owns for 2 years (during my Post Study Work VISA which ended last Dec). Recently, I have returned to Singapore to make an application for VISA to go back to UK to get a Civil parnership which we have made an appointment in May 2013 while I was there living with him,
I read the forum here that only the UK Partner’s income is of importance and has gotten me confused and worried.
Since my proposed partner only has 2 pensions which he is living on (combined total is16 300GBP per annum only) which does not meet the minimum of 18600GBP. And has very little in terms of personal savings. But I have a property back in Singapore which I have been earning a steady income from since i left for england 3 years ago to help with expenditure which comes up to 12 500GBP per annum.
Would this be eligible to cover the shortfall?
This will be my second attempt at applying, as my first attempt made 3 months ago was denied due to:
1) Mistake I made in putting my singapore address(rented property) as my residential/contact point even though since returning I have been renting a room myself as my property is still being rented out. Prior to that I have been been living for 2 years with my proposeed partner and in student accommodation while in UK studying.
So, as a result, the UK border Agency denied my application stating that its impossible for me to rent it out while I am staying there…. even though, I have submitted documentation proof of:-
a. Tenancy Agreement for 2 years,
b. Property agents fee I paid to get my tenants and
c. Letter from the Property Council showing my application approved to RENT
the property out (a requirement here in singapore) while I am away in UK
d. My Bank statements of 12 months prior to application showing the rent
steadyly going in the account as proof.
Of course this is just some of the documentation I have submitted.
The others are:
- My proposed partners pension statements for 12 months
- His property deeds from the lawyer that closed the sale
- Our passports and my Masters Degree from UK
- My Property Purchase document to prove that I am the owner.
- Pictures of our time spent living in his home with some showing with his friends and our travels in local district.
- The Appointment Notice, date and receipt of our proposed Civil partnership date in May 2013 from the local council.
- Letters from my sponsors declaring his affection for me after living together for 2 years
- Even a letter from his close friend testimony to us having living together continously.
I appologise for rambling but please if someone can give me advice or clarification on how I should go about with my up coming application.
Thanks
