Silversea plans another epic world cruise for 2015

Luxury line Silversea is planning another epic world cruise for 2015 that will include stops in 50 ports across five continents.


The 115-day voyage on the 382-passenger Silver Whisper will kick off Jan. 5, 2015 in Los Angeles and end in Fort Lauderdale on May 1, 2015.


After leaving Los Angeles, the Silver Whisper will head westward to the South Pacific before steaming to Australia. From there, the ship will visit Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia and Sri Lanka before crossing the Indian Ocean to the Seychelles.

Additional calls will explore Africa ports such as Mombasa, Kenya; Zanzibar, Tanzania; Cape Town, South Africa; Walvis Bay, Namibia; and Dakar, Senegal. The trip concludes with an Atlantic crossing to the Caribbean islands of St. Lucia, St. Bart’s and Puerto Rico.


The voyage, which opened for bookings on Monday, has been designed to offer extended time in many of the ports, with late departures from eight of the stops and overnight calls in nine locations including Papeete, French Polynesia; Sydney, Australia; Hong Kong; Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam; and Mombasa.


Passengers can extend the world cruise by up to 32 days by adding a 17-night, pre-cruise Panama Canal voyage from Fort Lauderdale to Los Angeles and/or a post-cruise sailing from Fort Lauderdale to New York (3 days) or Southampton, England (15 days).

Fares for the 115-day world cruise start at $58,950 per person, based on double occupancy. The price includes a pre-cruise overnight stay at a luxury hotel, business class air to reach the ship (or an air credit), transfers, a $4,000 on-board spending credit per cabin, complimentary laundry service, and an Internet package.
